WHEN WE’RE ALONE

I’ll stand proud
and cry,
I will not die, live
to fight another day
my own way
heartless,
unfeeling,
bitter and spiteful
that’s how you’ll find me
hardened, by betrayal…
the me inside you’ll never know…

But…
when we’re alone,
my soul and me,
we’ll remember…
how I used to be,
still can be
in privacy, alone
with my soul
we’ll cry, will not lie
stark honesty, and pain
will reign…
for love, for life
so freely given
in trust…
In vain.
